1934 Championship

One of the biggest names in the game, Wigan, were stuck in the doldrums. They hadn't won a Championship since 1926 and even then that was their third triumph. Gus Risman's Salford were growing and threatening to dominate the game for the foreseeable future. Wigan had Jim Sullivan in their ranks and a group of directors who weren't shy of splashing the cash. But despite the doom and gloom, Sullivan would remain the shining light that Wigan needed to turn their fortunes around, and that of England who hosted the touring Australians.

Above is a three-part series looking back at Wigan's fourth Championship triumph during the 1933/4 season. It wasn't plain sailing by any means but we got there. Eventually.
